Take part in EXPO Innovation Challenge if you want to make an impact and you aren't afraid to challenge the status quo. Will you be there?
We've tried to sum up the most common questions that we usually are receiving - however if you didn't find the answer you were looking for, then don't hesitate sending us an email!
The attendees’ backgrounds are approximately 70% technical (developers, programmers, engineers, coders, designers) and 30% business (business development, marketing, finance, law). What unites all attendees is a common interest to solve a real societal challenge, entrepreneurship, and curiosity. If this sounds like you, this is the event for you!
We want to ensure that we gather the most talented and passionate participants - and that we have a balanced amount of techies, designers and business enthusiasts. This will allow you to build successful and diversified teams.
Apart from the organizers, mentors, and speakers, everyone who attends during the event is expected to participate in a team. This is important not only to preserve the ‘vibe’ of the weekend but also to minimize distractions/disruptions for working teams.
Bring your laptop, power cord, business cards
and lots of creative energy and positive vibes! Remember your sleeping bag in case you wish to stay at the venue throughout the night.
Participation is free (upon competitive selection process), and participants will be provided with breakfast, lunch and dinner for the whole weekend - and the option of staying at the venue all night.
No. It is up to you and your team to manage time. Some teams may choose to work all night and day, but this is by no means obligatory or expected. The most important thing is that your prototype and pitch are ready to be presented on Sunday!
By Sunday, it is required that you have developed a fully functional prototype. You will be judged upon: Business Model, Impact, Prototype, Execution and Team Collaboration. The developed ideas should be achievable, usable and implementable for real-world use. Remember that all ideas have to fall under the EXPO 2015 theme "Feeding the Planet. Energy For Life".
The winning teams will be awarded up to 20,000 EUR and have the opportunity to go through an unique process of incubation and mentorship, provided by leading European incubation hubs for 6 months, in order to give them an opportunity to develop their ideas into successful startups. During this period, the startups will be supported by mentors, tutors and various industry experts.
Besides the awesome prizes this is an unique opportunity to network and meet like-minded people from the whole world.
